Introduction

Rabigh Arabian Water & Electricity Company, Ltd.

The Rabigh Arabian Water & Electricity Company (RAWEC), formed in 2005, is a limited liability company registered under the regulations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The company is owned by ACWA Power 80%, Oasis Power One Conventional Energy and Water Co 19% and Petro Rabigh 1%. It is a special purpose company established to build, own, and operate the Rabigh IWSPP. Its sole purpose is to provide essential utilities; electricity, steam and water to Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Company (PRC); jointly owned by Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical.

To meet with the growing and expanding demands in tandem with the growth of PRC, RAWEC developed its plant facilities in 2 phases, with deemed PCOD commencing in June 2008 (actual PCOD May 2010) and June 2016 (actual PCOD February 2018) for Phases I & II respectively. Both phases achieved zero Lost Time Injury. The integrated facility has an installed capacity of 840 MW power, 6110 t/h steam and 12000 t/h water

In order to have a greater focus in achieving its journey to operational excellence, and to cater to future expansions, RAWEC transformed itself and took a strategic decision to outsource O&M activities to Rabigh Power Company (RPC), owned by NOMAC, a subsidiary of ACWA Power in 2014.
